'FRANKENSTEIN' Iron-on transfer 1970's

This wonderful Frankenstein Iron-on transfer is from the 1970's and is possibly one of 4 designs that could also be bought already printed on a T-shirt. The pictures below show the front and back of the transfer and a advertisement from 'Legend Horror Classics'#2 (1974) showing 3 other designs [Dracula,Werewolf and King Kong] already printed on T-shirts that could be bought.

I used to live by a factory that made iron-on transfers. We kids would wait for 'seconds' which were thrown out for us to plunder and iron onto anything we could get our hands on!

Hi Perdita
Thats fantastic, wish I lived near a factory like that. What decade was this and can you remember what some of the transfers were of? What was the silliest thing that you ironed them onto?

I had this transfer printed onto a green t-shirt back in the 70's at Market Rasen racecourse. I think it was 1972. I loved it and refused to let my Mum jumble sale it years after it no longer fitted me though she must have done as it is no longer in my possession. Love your blog.

Thats great gclot, would of loved to have seen a photo of your Frankenstein T-Shirt, such a shame you don't have it now. Did you actually get the T-shirt printed at a stall at Market rasen? Glad you like the blog.

I remember seeing this design as well as the others pinned up in a little stall come shack at the Rhyl Fun Fair during the late 1970's. I lived near the fair and everytime I walked by I used to just stare at the horror themed and sci-fi/Star Wars ones for ages, wishing I could have one. I eventually got one bought for me by my mum in 1978, it was this Frankenstein one. I cherished it along with my glittery Dr.Who diamond logo T-shirt from that same year.

Wow, I had that Frankenstein t-shirt. I got it in Blackpool while on holiday. I had completely forgotten about it until I saw it on your great blog. I am also pretty sure there is a photo of me wearing the t-shirt somewhere...
